8 things you may not know about Baguio City

If you think about visiting the Philippines this Christmas we are going to give you today 8 facts of Baguio City that you may not know.

1.-The name of the city comes from the word “Bagiw” that means “moss” in Ibaloi a Malayo-Polynesian language. Is also known as “The city of Pines” and I must be related to spending Christmas around is one of the best experiences.



2- The climate is awesome, so much that it is never too cold or too hot even in Christmas. In fact, the government of Philippines changes its residence every summer to this site. (check the Mansion House article here)
3.- Most people in Baguio are Roman Catholics and save the religious traditions that reflect our culture. Especially at Christmas time. We are a devoted community.



4.- Some of the vegetables are called ‘Baguio vegetables” when we are talking about vegetables that grow better in the cooler climate.



5. ‘Panagbenga Festival ‘ is one of our most attractive festivities and our tribute to flowers. We celebrate it on February and it's simply beautiful. It attracts tourists all around the world.

6.- Baguio is the only city of Philippines to have been listed among the top 25 destinations in Asia and holds 2011 Traveller’s Choice Destination Awards, Asia category as per TripAdvisor.
7.- The most usual transportation in the city is known as Jeepneys you can recognize them for their crowded seating and kitsch decorations, which have become a ubiquitous symbol of Philippine culture and art.

8.- Christmas in Baguio last 4 months and the 25th of December is a very significant day for the people there. There are special rituals to celebrate the born of Jesus that includes Delicious food base on rice.
